Who has a genius child?

Who has a genius child? Yep, that’s right, me! Llani took her state-mandated annual test today, and did amazingly, remarkably well. Y’all, my eight-year-old second-grader is reading at a tenth-grade level. Tenth grade, y’all! Like a fifteen-year-old! She is at grade level in math, and significantly above grade level in everything else. I am so proud of her…. and so glad we homeschool.

That’s great! Your obviously doing a great job, of course, having a genius child does help, LOL.

I hope you had a Happy Mother’s Day!

That’s fantastic! What test does NC administer that doesn’t just test her against other second graders?

Thanks, Mom#1. I am still basking in my pride. :)

Saille, NC gives parents a choice of several nationally normed tests, which parents may administer themselves or have administered by someone else. We chose the Woodcock-Johnson test (yes, my inner 12yo giggles at the name), administered by the owner of a local homeschooling store. A lot of it was oral, and it was administered one-one-one. That was great for Llani, who hates to write and had never taken a test before. It also gives more information about her strengths and weaknesses than the average “fill in the dot” test. It doesn’t have a test for each grade level. It just starts easy and keeps going until it gets too hard for them.
